Cons of the South Shore Furniture City Life Collection TV Stands:
- Legs are a little flimsy and made from plastic and not metal, compared to the rest of the stand which has sturdy construction, so some users didn't put them on.
- Packaging of the South Shore Furniture City Life Collection TV Stands was reported as bad and not quite worthy of rough handling during shipping, so check for tiny scratches or dents. The Styrofoam packing material is the flaky type that leaves flakes everywhere!

Let me show you what current owners have to say about it.
Frank E. Trinkle,
We purchased this stand on Amazon with a little trepidation, having had bad experiences with DIY assembly furniture in the past... especially items made in China. We were very very pleased however with this unit.
The materials used are high quality MDF, and every pre-drilled hole and plug was in exactly the right position. (No off-center or missing holes like many previous items we have assembled). The unit is made in Quebec, Canada, and the company is clearly dedicated to quality! The assembly manual was thorough and understandable. Every illustration in the manual showed each piece precisely as it should be oriented, with every pre-drilled hole shown in the illustration. This is critically important, because it eliminates the potential for assembling any piece the wrong way and having to start over.
Each piece is clearly marked with a code that is referenced in the manual, and the company ships the unit with a few extra small items like plastic dowels... "just in case"!
Assembly was straightforward and timed at exactly one hour... including downing two cups of coffee during assembly!

Tips on Choosing The Right Television Stand
With so many different television stands on the market, picking the right one can be overwhelming. There are and abundance of different floor models, in different sizes and features. There are some important things that you should know in order to pick the one that is right for you. Here are some tips to help you decide on the stand that best suits your needs.
The first place to really start from is with your home entertainment center. Many people have not only a television, but DVD players, surround sound, as well as video game platforms. Then you have to also factor in the amount of DVDs, and games you own. You want to find a television stand that is large enough, and has enough adjustable shelves to accommodate all of this equipment.
The next consideration is the height of the television itself. Picking a stand that is too low or high can put a strain on your neck. When sitting down in your TV watching chair or couch, your television should be at the same height as you line of sight, or slightly higher. If you don't have a stand already, then look at the wall while sitting, have someone mark a spot that is the best viewing height, and measure how far this is to the floor. No matter what model of stand you choose, the area where the television is going to sit should be this level.
Then you really have to think about the style of television stand, and the materials that it is made from. You want your stand to not only be able to support the weight of your TV, but all of your other entertainment equipment as well. If you decide on a product that you have to assemble yourself, avoid models that are made from particle board, because they simply won't stand up to the test of time, and you will end up having to replace it often.
You really need to measure the size of your television, not only the screen size, but the depth as well. You want to find a television stand that is large enough to accommodate your unit. If you have a smaller TV, but are considering buying a larger model in the future, you need to make sure there is enough space on your stand, so you don't have to buy another stand along with your new set. A good television stand will also have a large open space in the back for running all of your electrical wiring and A/V cables.
There is also the space in which the unit is placed. There are many different ways to set up your entertainment area. You have to think about where you cable or satellite hook up is coming into the room, and where your electrical outlet is located. If these are close to a corner, there are many really nice corner television stands, in a variety of different heights. There are just as many nice wall units available. You can choose from products that are open faced, as well as ones with closing doors, hiding your television and entertainment products until needed. Lastly, you really have to look around, with these ideas in mind, for the best price on stands. Mass marketing retailers will often have the lowest competitive prices, but their selections may be limited.
